How deep are the Berryessa trout in mid February?

The majority came in the top 25 feet, with trolled fish from the surface down to about 40 to 45 feet. The deeper marks at 20 to 40 feet are not going consistently yet, so run one line down inside the bait balls and fish the top for numbers.

What lures are working at Lake Berryessa?

Spoons carried the day. Most fish came on Trigger Spoons and Junior Trigger Spoons, with some on stick baits out on the planer boards. Fast-troll the spoons and run them clean.

How do you fish murky, cold water?

Lean on scent. Nate cannot preach Chrome Killer Scent enough in these conditions, saying the fish love it. In dirty water, scent your spoons early and often to help the fish find your offering.

Nate's outlook for Lake Berryessa

With another 3 inches of rain forecast, the already-full lake will keep rising, but the fishing remains great. Keep working the top 25 feet, run a deep line on the marks, and be ready as the deeper fish turn on.
