What is working right now

The Lake Berryessa trout bite stayed strong for Big Nate, with fish to 5 pounds and a bass near 8 pounds. Fast-troll Trigger Spoons in the original size and the Junior, run clean. Trout are spread from the surface to 60 feet, and the deeper marks at 45 to 60 feet are starting to produce numbers. Leave one rod deep on the bait balls.

What is biting at Lake Berryessa right now?

Trout, with some real size. Nate Kelsch had a great week with plenty of nice rainbows, fish up to about 5 pounds, and a bass close to 8 pounds. Kings and kokanee are not showing yet but should follow in the next month or so.

How deep are the Berryessa trout in early February?

From the surface down to about 60 feet. A lot of the deeper marks are now producing numbers, so keep at least one rod down between 45 and 60 feet, and if you find bait balls, leave it there.

We're catching everything from the surface all the way down to about 60 feet now, a lot of those deeper marks are starting to produce some numbers for us. Leave one rod down there deep between 45, 60 feet, if you find some bait balls leave it down there. The spoons that have been working the best have been the Catch America trigger spoons in the original size as well as the junior.
