Striper season on the Sacramento River is off to a very good start, with limits for every boat every day since it opened. Capt. Jeff Goodwin's go-to is drifting minnows, an easy and effective technique. Fish light with one or two ounces on a dropper and a number one or 1/0 light wire hook for live minnows. From the report (Capt. Jeff Goodwin): Striper fishing began last week and it was very good. So far we've had limits for every boat every day since we started. Primarily we're using a technique of drifting minnows. Super easy fishing. We don't need a lot of weight, sitting on the edges with one or two ounces on a dropper, and a number one or 1/0 light wire hook is best for live minnows.
