What is working right now

Shasta Lake is fishing well for brown trout despite the storms, with rainbows, a few king salmon, and a bunch of bass mixed in. Capt. Jeff Goodwin is working the upper arms, the Sacramento and McCloud, with the water back down to 47 degrees and the color still good. Divers are the top producer, with a few fish coming on downriggers.

What is biting at Shasta Lake right now?

Brown trout are the standout. Rainbows, a few king salmon, and a lot of bass round out the catch, and the bass have loved the nasty weather.

Where should I fish on Shasta Lake?

The upper arms. Jeff is concentrating on the Sacramento River arm, with the McCloud River arm also fishing good, plus the dam area, Dry Creek, and Big Backbone.

From the report (Capt. Jeff Goodwin): We started out the week really well, a nice sunny day, and had an amazing day catching brown trout. We're back down into the 47 degree range, color still looks good. We're going to go up in the arms again and concentrate on the upper sections, probably the Sacramento River arm. Divers are doing really good, we're getting a few on downriggers as well.
