What is working right now

Kokanee fishing is off the wall at Stampede Reservoir, mainly up the Little Truckee arm at about 35 to 45 feet deep. There are two classes of fish, little ones around 8 inches and a bigger group up to about 11 inches. The five fish limit fills fast. Some nice trout are also holding up in that Little Truckee arm.

How is the kokanee bite at Stampede Reservoir?

Insane. Capt. Brett Brady calls it off the wall, up on Stampede earlier in the week. The kokanee are stacked mainly up the Little Truckee arm.

What depth are the kokanee holding at Stampede?

About 35 to 45 feet deep, up the Little Truckee arm. Kokanee are a slow troll target, so run your dodger and kokanee setups through that band.

How big are the Stampede kokanee?

There are two classes of fish. The little guys run about 8 inches long, and a bigger group mixed in runs up to about 11 inches. You have to hunt a little for the bigger ones, and nothing much bigger than that. With a five fish limit at those sizes, do the math, it is not a lot of meat.

Are there trout at Stampede too?

Yes. There are still some pretty good trout up that Little Truckee arm. Brett got into some nice trout running a bug where the Little Truckee dumps in, and it was pretty fun.
