CA Trolling Dodger 9" - Large Stainless Dodger

About this product

The Catch America 9-inch Stainless Steel Trolling Dodger is designed for big-water applications where maximum attractor presence is needed to draw fish from deeper in the water column or across wider strike zones. Its oversized blade produces a pronounced wide-swing action with significant water displacement, triggering aggressive responses from rainbow trout, landlocked salmon, and kokanee when smaller dodgers aren’t reaching far enough into the spread. Premium stainless steel construction ensures the blade holds its shape and finish through a full season of hard use without distortion or corrosion. Available in 22 color patterns covering diamond, chrome, and painted finishes.

Overview

The Catch America 9″ Stainless Steel Trolling Dodger is designed for anglers who demand performance. Its slim profile creates a wide, sweeping action in the water with minimal drag, making it perfect for both deep and shallow trolling.

This dodger is highly effective for targeting salmon, trout, walleye, and Lakers/Mackinaw. It produces both flash and vibration to trigger feeding responses, while its rotating motion imparts a darting action to the trailing lure, mimicking distressed baitfish. The metallic reflective film enhances visibility, increasing attraction in all water conditions.

Now available in three new finishes—24K Gold, Silver, and Copper—for added flash and superior performance in various light conditions.

Questions and answers

What is the 9-inch Trolling Dodger best for?

The 9-inch Trolling Dodger is a slow-troll attractor for kokanee, trout, salmon, walleye, and Lakers. Its slim profile creates a wide, sweeping action with minimal drag, throwing flash and vibration that call fish in. The rotating motion imparts a darting action to whatever lure or bait trails behind it.

How do I rig the dodger?

Attach the dodger to your mainline with a quality snap swivel to stop line twist. Tie your trailing lure or bait to the back using an 18 to 36 inch leader, adjusting length for species and conditions. A shorter leader gives more action, and a longer leader softens it.

What speed should I troll it?

Troll the dodger slowly between 1.2 and 2.5 mph, adjusting until it kicks side to side with a wide, even sweep. This is a slow-troll attractor, not a fast spoon rig. Watch the rod tip for a steady rhythmic pulse that tells you the action is dialed in.

What can I run behind it?

Run spoons, soft plastics, hoochies, or bait behind the 9-inch dodger. The rotating flash imparts a darting, distressed-baitfish action to the trailing lure. Add scent to the trailer to increase strikes. Match the trailer to your target species and experiment with leader length until the fish commit.

What finishes are available?

The 9-inch dodger comes in 22 finishes, including Stainless Steel, 24k Gold, Copper, and a range of diamond and tribal patterns in red and orange. Bright metallics throw flash in clear water and sun, while painted patterns add contrast in stained water or low light.

What trailer pairs well with it?

Pair the dodger with the Trix Minnow 5-pack for a slow-troll soft plastic spread. The dodger throws flash while the thin minnow wobbles behind on a straight-shank hook. This combination shines for trout and kokanee. Keep the leader in the 18 to 36 inch range for the best action.
