Cal Kellogg has long been an advocate of tipping both his downrigger rods and leadcore rods with the same system. Simply slide your main line through the bead and then tie on your ball bearing trolling swivel via a palomar knot. 

The trolling swivel helps to stop line twist from your lure or dodger from being transferred to the main line, while the bead prevents the swivel from being reeled into the top eye of the rod.

Using this system you simply attach your trolling leader, Turbo Flasher or dodger directly to the trolling swivel. This makes tackle changes quick and easy.
